The Orples Record Another Beautiful Richmond Mural

I know we’ve been wandering away from our own neighborhood lately, sometimes focusing on a nifty new toy we came across, or as in the case of the day before yesterday,  showcasing Orpleville for those of you who are unaware that the orples have a childhood home. They are rooted to an orange tree, but were ‘transformed’ in the basement of their friend, Jack’s, house.  None of that really matters for this post today, but we will still be playing with our neighbors and visiting their blogs. Anyone familiar with my blog knows my links have been messed up and I still don’t quite know why. But the blog—this blog—is the blog I post on these days—EVERYDAY.

Today’s post reflects on a little get-away, change of pace, spur of the moment, trip I took yesterday— just because it was too pretty to sit inside.   Check out this beautiful  little mural I encountered in Carytown, a quaint little section of historic, Richmond, Virginia.  I need to take a day and photograph some of their magnificent architecture. The city is rich in history and aesthetics.

One day I will take the time to acknowledge my own backyard. Today is a good day to start.

Sorry about the parking sign, not much I could do there without knocking out a whole bunch of names.  Standing further back here’s part of the big picture (next frame).

This mural captivated me.  Check out the close ups—what a whimsical artist— what a talent!  If the service inside is as friendly as it is outside, then I’d take my business there.

I love the characters in these sections. Personality oozes from everyone of them.

Look at those happy dogs, eager to go inside. :)

And here are even more characters, lined up, waiting their turns.

I wonder what those people are looking at, appearing to peer inside?

Finally, rounding the corning, it's almost time to go inside. I'll have to check these guys out during business hours.

That black & white dog is quite the gentleman, holding the door for the lady while he bows—how charming.  I was beginning to think chivalry was dead, my mistake.

I hope you guys enjoyed this Mural as much as I did. To see more Murals, or more of Virginia, I’ve included a few links for your convenience.

The Orples and the Art Game

Those globe hopping Orples have hopped over onto Dolly’s blog, where we can find them playing games in Dolly’s world. They saw her tee-shirts hanging around in need of paint and personalization.  Now Oscar and Olivia are pestering me to hurry up and open our shop so Dolly can buy the supplies she needs to do the job.

The Orples do love to play and create things, which is why they find Dolly's blog to be so much fun. She is always fooling around, being silly.

I think I’ll work on gathering inventory for the various departments in our new shop while the silly little Orples play with Dolly’s friends.  Amazon has a wonderful selection of fabric paints and markers, as you shall soon see. Then we can stroll through our neighborhood, to see what has been going on in Orpleland. ;)

Coming Soon! The Orples Toy and Gift Shop

I’ve had to shift gears lately, in an effort to launch our new toy and gift shop ….  even Orples have to work, you know. The idea is for me to take the time to hand select some sensible, and in some cases, classic toys, books, and gifts for the children on your gift list.  Today’s post is but a brief preview of what is to come, and at this point, we are in the set-up process, thus still subject to change.  We are  still adding categories, and trying to arrange our inventory in an effort to save you shopping time when the time comes.

The Orples and I are getting excited. In the next week or two, we shop have our shop open and ready for business. We'd love it if you spread the word! :)

I hope when we do open our doors, you will think of us when you seek out gifts for the wee ones in your life.

If you’re not in a shopping mood, you can still enjoy our Orple Adventures with the neighbors. Feel free to catch up at your leisure, and thank you for stopping by today. :)

The Orples Visit The Center of Spain In Madrid

Ren wrote a fascinating article on Madrid, Spain.   Renxkyoko’s space is full of wonderful posts on Ren’s world travels. In the particular article the Orples are visiting today, she gives a brief insight into the relationship between Spain and the Philippines. I found her article extremely interesting, and her photographs a joy to observe since I have never had the good fortune to travel abroad.

The Orples find themselves admiring the marker that marks the center of Spain.

The Orples, being Orples are not hindered by the physical world, so they will have to meet Ren, leaving me behind to visit our neighbors. Out of curiosity, I  thought I’d run over to Amazon to find a globe to include in the shop the Orples and I are setting up.  I found a talking globe. Can you believe it? Today’s toys are unbelievable when compared to the toys I had as a kid. The globe I found will be sold on my shop once I’m finished setting it up. Or, if you’re on the market for globes, you can get one now.  Either way,  I think I might need a globe or a map or something  so I can keep track of where my little Orples are at any given point in time .

The Orples Join A Paper Kite Butterfly for Lunch.

Maria not only has a tropicalflowerzone, she has beautiful butterflies on her blog too. The Orples seem to have made a new friend—Ms.  Paper Kite Butterfly.  Speaking of butterflies; Amazon has some really cool Butterfly Sticker Books available if you love butterflies as much as we do, and stickers are  a fun addition to snail mail letters & packages, scrapbook entries, etc.  Amazon has some cool ‘how to makePaper Kites books, too. I even found one that features butterflies, among other things from around the world .  With March right around the corner,  paper kites come to mind in more ways than one.  :)

The Orples and the Paper Kite Butterfly enjoy a leisurely lunch together.

With all of those scrumptious flowers to munch on, I am thinking those three are going to be enjoying an extended lunch. This might be a good time to begin back in the neighborhood, allowing you to review our recent Adventures, so you don’t miss anything. Come along while I refresh my memory — and those three finish lunch.

The Orples Visit The Ruins of Kerak Castle in The Middle East.

You know when Madhu gets theurgetowander, she wanders into some fascinating places.  Along the way, Madhu takes breathtaking photos, and in many cases (such as this), includes a wonderful, informative history of her subject matter. Today we are visiting the ruins of The Castle Kerak and learning of its thousand (plus) year history.   I am always amazed at the number of people who have died fighting over power and land. At the moment, I am hoping Oscar doesn’t fall over the side and perish with some of the poor souls who fell victim to the King’s wrath somewhere along the way.

Olivia was smart enough to bring binoculars and she is willing to share.  I suspect, once Oscar regains his nerve, the Orples will be spending more time admiring the scenery.

If you get tired of waiting for the Orples, come visit our neighbors with me to see what you may have missed in the recent past. :)

The Orples and I Are Setting Up A Toy Store

If you have missed us visiting your blog in the last day or two … no worries … we haven’t forgotten and/or overlooked you, we are just busy trying to set up shop in the hopes that anyone needing toys, books, toy storage, art supplies for children, dress up costumes, and so on will stop by and check out our selections once our shop opens. I have literally been spending every waking hour, not blogging, trying to put the pieces into place to bring you guys a sensible shop to find nice gifts for that special child on your gift list.

The Orples have gotten side-tracked with their new 'Artist' workstation from Amazon. Some help they are in helping me set up shop.

Olivia, Oscar, and I have weeded through thousands of items to offer you the basics in a variety of organized categories, saving you time when you shop. I’ll keep you posted as we progress with our efforts to (in the near future) present to you a, well thought out, toy and gift shop. For now, a work station for the creative child on your list may be a good place to begin … just ask the Orples.

Or if you prefer, feel free to stroll through the neighborhood to see what you may have missed in our past few posts.

The Orples, The Knitted Bluebird, and The Beautiful Knit Flowers

If you guys had trouble believing in Orples, check out Jackie’s knitted bluebird. Jackie really does knit with heart … as if the bluebird isn’t sweet enough, check out those lovely flowers she has made. To see more, you need to visit Jackie.

The Orples have run across a knitted bluebird that lives in kitted flowers.

As much as Oscar and Olivia love to chat, we may as well visit the neighborhood as I  suspect those two will be awhile.  While you guys toggle down through past posts, I think I’ll skip over to Amazon for a minute or two and check out their yarn. I might have to knit my own little bluebird. :)

The Orples Are Admiring Gerry’s Nano Awards.

Gerry has been laying low, writing quite a bit, it seems.  Let’s all Restawlye and go check him out.  Oscar and Olivia are admiring his first Nano award, but Gerry didn’t stop there. To see just how many awards Gerry has achieved, you will have to visit him, but I will say the one shown here is only the first.

Now the Orples want their own laptop computer so they can write like Gerry does.

Olivia is so excited, she wants her own laptop computer now, so she can write while she and Oscar travel among your blogs.  I think after we’ve checked out computers on Amazon, we will visit the neighbors as we usually do this time of day. Please come along if you like. :)

The Orples Meet Danny, A Teddy Bear

Ute is so upbeat and she has some wonderful friends on her blog. No wonder Utesmiles so much.  Come join the Orples and meet Danny, her friendly little teddy bear.  Ute introduces him in more extent than I have here.   Plus, you will love her blog, so be sure and check her out if you’ve not met her already.

Danny, the Teddy Bear and the Orples are getting ready to eat. I hope Oscar leaves a little something for Danny and Olivia.

We can leave them to chat for awhile. I think I’ll stroll though the neighborhood and see who else is up to what. Then I might go to try to find our own teddy bear.
